What's the difference between a digital perm and a cold perm?
Digital perming uses a heated, temperature-controlled machine and tends to give softer, more natural waves that suit longer hair — it's also gentler overall. Cold perming uses no heat and typically gives a tighter, more classic curl, and processes faster. We'll recommend based on your hair length and the curl you want.
How long does a digital perm last?
Typically four to six months, fading gradually rather than dropping out suddenly, as your hair grows and the curled section grows out.
Will it damage my hair?
Any chemical process affects hair to some degree, which is why we assess your hair's condition and colour history first. If your hair genuinely isn't ready for it, we'll tell you honestly rather than risk it.
Can I perm hair that's already coloured?
Often yes, but the order and timing matter — we'll advise whether to colour first or perm first, and how long to leave between the two, based on your hair's condition.
Is it suitable for short hair?
It works best on hair long enough to show a proper wave pattern — generally shoulder-length or longer. For shorter hair, a cold perm often gives a better result, and we'll say so at consultation.
How do I keep the curl looking good day to day?
Scrunch rather than brush when drying, use curl-defining products, and avoid brushing dry hair, which breaks up the curl pattern. We'll run through your specific home routine before you leave.
